LET's PLAY THE BLAME GAME!

LET's PLAY THE BLAME GAME!

Truly said-‘violence begins at home’. Now how much of this statement is justified? I would say, its everytime or never! Specially the intensity and number of violence by children have been increasing since past two- three years. Children as we say are true hallmark of innocence, they are quick learners. Recently while going through my psychology case history book i came across this character name Dalton who is 14 years old. The case highlighted opened with series of criminal cases imposed on him. And out of curiosity i started searching for various reason to unfold this case. I was intensely surrounded by the question of why’s and how’s.
While going through his entire life- history of this juvenile i was knock down by pity for this little boy who had never seen the rising sun. He was a boy of utmost talent, would never break parental rules a true epitome of a child grown to adult. Later he came across things which he had never expected would drag him towards insanity. And that was greed. Daltons greed lead him to commit a crime of stealing and murder.
Nowadays children donot think its necessary to take permission for doing something which they believe falls in the periphery of the parental norms. Because they more or less have realised the psyche of their so called blinded parents who would agree to their interest no matter how out of norms it may fall. This is where the drawback lies and that would be ignorance. This indirectly means pushing your own child towards dead end. In the present scenario we face difficulty in calling few parents as their childs idol or guiding star. After reading this article parents should definitely think twice before saying yes to their child regarding their necessities.
The crime rate and violence increases due to these set of wrong practices which according to parents will increase their childs respect for them, which is an another misconception. These set of parents who believe that giving a poche and luxurious life to their child would make them socially eligible to fit in a plastic society then this set of mentality would be false on their behalf. Nowadays , the conversation between a parent and their children would be limited to talks like clothing, luxury or an unconscious motivation for something which would bring them money instead of moral values.
It is therefore an immediate repercussion to the communication gap which is evident through cases like that of Dalton. This was Daltons greed for himself to have the best of everything which ultimately threw him into the shade of darkness. The power of greed at a tender age can ruin your childs life too if you don’t take precaution to lessen the implication. When money becomes a child's possession they choose to follow the value of hardwork. These are violence which a child faces secretly throughout their entire life and about which we are ignorant . This a battle which they face it everyday.

ACT OF INNOCENSE

ACT OF INNOCENSE

Last night when I was going through the news headlines, I came across news which displayed the murder of a child by another. When I strolled down further for the details I notice the intensity of the crime and out of shock I was informed that it was due to the later not allowing the former into indulging sexual intercourse. They both belonged to the same gender and age. They were 9 years old. This example directly or indirectly give us a clear signal as to how violence doesn’t come in a particular shape or form, neither it gives you clear indication as to what could be next.

There is no one particular reason as to why a crime is committed. For example, when you see someone holding a knife in their hand, you immediately respond to it as grownups. Now consider a child who doesn’t know the psyche of a criminal, how will they perceive of someone who plans to harm them? There is no formal structure of a criminal and everybody seems to look alike, just that their intensity of crime is different. Child as we say are true idol of innocence. And according to us we start believing that a child can never commit or think of hurting another child. But by observing the present scenario the crime rate amongst children has taken a toll.

Now the question arises as to-how these crime rates could be stopped and what could be the possible reason for these crimes? There could be multiple reason behind a crime scene rating from family pressure, mental disturbance, unhappy life and countless. When we hear about a crime we immediately picture their condition of the victimizers and not the victim. This is a matter of thought as to why do we portray a child criminal in a grim atmosphere which is ill tempered, spoiled or dangerous. We the audience give our opinion without even trying to understand a child’s psyche ignoring the process of searching the reason and the history through which these crimes evolves. We live in a democratized nation and we are given the power in our hand to think before raising or pointing finger at someone. Now when i say these words I do not necessarily mean that the victim is not responsible for his intensity of the crime rather, i am talking this in the context of psychological term. In psychology they say that when a person is in a disturbed state of mind or is anxious regarding something or the other then the risk factor of getting oneself caught in a crime scene is higher than the average who are stalwarts. Along with being firm and strong there are other networks which triggers the crime such as crime based movies or action scenes where they receive a platform to introduce themselves with the scene. The 2014 Malayalam movie Drishyam throws an edgy evident as to how the skills can be acquired. It’s always in our visual perceptory system which dominates our sensory perception to which a child reacts and  carefully gets a detail idea regarding the ingrediants and the procedure of doing it. Therefore, in this context the environment in which a child is raised takes the form of one kind of violence.

EXPERIENCE AND PAIN. . .

EXPERIENCE AND PAIN. . .

‘first time i experienced pain’- this was the only line which she told me out of her deep secret. Let me brief you about this friend of mine named Kalen. She was the only daughter born to Mrs. Leena Antonio and Dr. Paul Henry. Kalen like many other children was a happy go lucky kind of a girl who loves painting, specially wall painting, jokes apart. Now when I say she loves painting doesn’t mean she is Picassos kin, rather she represented the other half of Picasso. Her painting would comprise of stick figures glued with water colour. Colour in fact played a dominating part during her teenage years. She loved playing with colours no wonder when she experienced the colour of life in reality. She floats like ‘Rapunzel’ whenever she would get the beats. She was one lovely princess in her fairy world and this she would repeat to herself whenever we meet her- ‘i love my red colour dress and people around me, hear so much goodness in it’. She was the second version of Russel Peter in our entire society, she make souls laugh along with the rhythm of her endless chatter. We would say- Kalen! You should break down your jokes. Now when I recall these lines at times i wonder ‘wish I never restricted her in speaking too much’. I remember aunt Leena expressing her worry regarding Kalens poor grades in the subject of mathematics. She would complain her mother how she finds it hard to play with those single numbers.

It all happened in the month of October. She was in her 4th grade when a mathematics teacher was appointed to her on this subject. According to my aunt, Kalen is lucky to have him as her tutor and that he would company her in every decision she makes. Slowly and gradually we learned that she was progressing successively in her course. Her grades were improving tremendously. But then i could smell something mysterious about her change gestures. She would speak less unlike those days when she would come to me and would share her routine events. She stopped complaining about her dislikes and would keep herself confuse and aloof.

But then one day i stood and sat next to her and i could sense darkness surrounding her happiness. She would signal me a corner eye and would shift her vision again. Within few second she turned her chair and kept my hand on hers and said ‘first time i experienced pain’ with utter sorrow and left. This stringed an eco on mine where for a second i couldn’t possibly find out the reason behind why a child would say this so sudden. I offered her games, games we use to play very evening. She would refrain herself and would carry herself back to a place where she would be away from the eyes. Days would pass by but her voice and her liveliness was tugged deep inside.

After several years we saw her moving along with the pace of life. After she became a senior software engineer at the Infosys she was lead an independent life. There was much talk about her regarding marriage but then each time we placed this topic on her shoulder, she would deny the fact of accepting this institution.

Is this what we call as overtly mature or is there a story behind this maturity?

Then came out the darkest secret about her life, when she gathered courage to call her mother and say her every confusion which she could not solve when she was a child. She started with a deep sour throat, her pain and sadness could be traced down through her voice that even the receiver felt ashame of lending and ear to it. It was a case of sexual harrassment where she was harassed by her own mathematics tutor. She would describe the pain she felt when her not so matured parts were touched upon by an unknown hand and that she thought it was a game he was playing. The only punishment of getting a wrong answer was terrific.

Is this how our tutors punish their students?

The man who she thought was her teacher, a guide, a brother and a pathfinder. A person  who her parents thought would change her future literally changed her life. And now she decides to envelope this memory filled with her past inorder to guide the soul next to her. There are similar cases which happens at the periphery and about which we still are ignorant.
